1) If you have a series of scenes that take place within a single house how do you write the SCENE HEADINGS? Is it like --

INT. HOUSE, HALLWAY -NIGHT
blah, blah, blah.

INT. HOUSE, LIVING ROOM -NIGHT
blah, blah.

INT. HOUSE, BATHROOM -NIGHT
etc.

or something like--

INT. HOUSE, HALLWAY -NIGHT
blah, blah, blah.

INT. LIVING ROOM -CONTINUOUS
etc.

??Or something else entirely??

2) IF you have a series of short scenes/shots that take place in one location, but time elapses between each shot, how do you write that? Is it like --

INT. ROOM
Boy paces back and forth.

INT. ROOM
Boy jumps up and down.

INT. ROOM
etc.

or can you write something like--

INT. ROOM - SERIES OF SHOTS

--Boy paces back and forth.

--Boy jumps up and down.

--etc.

Any help will help me out and will be helpful.

I like to use minislugs:

INT. COLONEL MUSTARD'S MANSION - NIGHT

LIVING ROOM

COLONEL MUSTARD, 84, sits down to watch TV.

BEDROOM - HOURS LATER

Colonel Mustard gets into bed, touches his wife's shoulder.

BILLIARD ROOM - SIMULTANEOUS

PROFESSOR PLUM enters through an open window with a lead pipe.

if we're following a character from one room to another, i will use minislugs as jake suggests:

INT. FRANK'S HOUSE -- BEDROOM -- DAY

Franks makes his bed then heads out into the--

LIVING ROOM

Where blah blah blah.

if it's various people doing various things in the same building, i don't use minislugs, but i don't see any reason not to, so long as it's clear that we're in the same house.

if i'm cutting from one location to the same location later, i just write "LATER":

INT. DINER -- NIGHT

Frank sits at a table, tapping his fork, waiting.

A waiter walks over and lights a candle which sits in the table's center.

LATER

Frank is asleep, his head resting on his plate.

The candle has burned down to a nub.

but i'm sure there are other ways to do it.
