Caught this on DVD this weekend. Not perfect, but I really enjoyed this film. One of the better horrors I've seen in while. It was a throwback to old horror, when slow pacing helped drive up the tension.
For 1.5 million they put a hell of good movie together with some genuine scares. ( a few cliches going on, but the end result was good)
Features a pretty good cast in Henry Thomas and Isiash Washington too. The commentary track by the director is pretty good too as it goes into the backstory a bit more. ( i.e. they condition they describe the mother having is the old term for turberculosis) The extras showing the writer is pretty cool too.

Speaking of dead birds and people, Hitchcocks's The Birds (1963) is in development for a remake...
Who will play Tippi Hedren's (Melanie Griffifth's mom) role?
Jessica Simpson?
Paris Hilton?
Scarlett Johansson (Kelsey's choice)?
Lindsay Lohan (as a blonde)?
Gwen Stefani?

I thought it was stupendously dull.
Some nice scares, those creepy CG faces looked cool, but the plotting was muddy...
A decent Friday night booze movie, but sadly nothing else.

Yeah, I heard the yak track was good. I might grab the dvd just for that.

I heard so many people talking about this, I decided to give it a try... I started fast forwarding about half way through. Not too good.

Wolf, you are joking, right? Unwatchable! My take: Dead Birds = Garbage!

Authorized, don't look up from your vomit pile just yet, but Showtime remade The Birds already, about what, 5-7 years ago.

I kinda liked the slow pacing simply because it was throwback to when horror was about mood and thinking about what was lurking in the shadows more than trying up the blood being thrown around.
I've been getting my horror fix from videogames these days cause most horror is crap (The ring was passable, but Tooth Fairy, Grudge, Dawn of the dead etc were snoozers).
For 1.5 million, it was a good looking film. The faces were spooky as hell (The mom staring at you during the montage)
Anyone wish to offer up some other decent horror to watch ( low budget or otherwise).
