Hey guys,

Does the new writer's name on this mean it is a page one rewrite? And if so, why doesn't the sale list the current writers since they're the ones that sold the property to be rewritten?

Little confused how to read these sometimes.

Thanks
Santino

It works like this for the most part.... The deals we list and the info listed along with each deal is generally "writer-centric."

As in, John Doe sold his script "YYY" to some studio for $1 million. Doe was repped by Bill Smith from CAA, etc. Or Doe was hired to rewrite a script by Sally Jones.

What we list in not the final writing credit for the film. No one knows what those will be till later. What this deal listed says is that Daniel Pyne has been hired to write the script based on the game.

They did not announce whether he will start from scratch or simply rewrite what the others did. That's unknown at this point. (They know most likely but we don't.) The other writers were noted in the MORE section but were not included as WRITERs) since they didn't just get hired to write the script at this moment and time. Pyne did. This is announcing his deal/agreement.

Thanks, Will.

So, then...the way this most likely went down is the project was purchased by a Production Company that was tied in with Paramount. And for whatever reason it didn't fly over there, so they set it up with Dreamworks and hired this new guy as the scribe?

Possible scenario:

Tom Clancy's videogame was picked up by Paramount.
Paramount hired writers to adapt it.
Once there was change of management, this project along with most of their old slate went into turnaround.
Dreamworks got it sans the writers, put new writers on it.
Probably a page one rewrite.
