It appears that the good folks at Flower Films are tinkering with the idea for a remake of the 1968 classic, "Barbarella". My question is (drum roll please) WHY! Instead of following in the footsteps of the other production companies in H`town by re-hashing old scripts why don`t they show some ball`s and listen to John Q. Movie go`er and make something different, SOMETHING NEW!
Hollywood moans about lagging ticket sales. They remake everything under the sun and it turns out crap and are shocked that people won`t pay hard earned money to see it.
What next, a remake of Cat Ballou? Drew Barrymore would look hot a top a drunken horse I suppose.
The Ghost
PS I refered to Barbarella as a classic which is of course a matter of taste.

Got to agree with you ghost. The constant stream of remakes, rehashed TV series and second rate comic books is getting depressing. Never mind, in a couple of years the bozos who greenlit this drivel will be indie prod.

It's a classic all right, they'll have a hard time trying to equal the glitzy tongue-in-cheek phallic jauntiness of the original and its great cast. Young Jane's innocent hornyness is a joy and a thrill to watch. Who wouldn't want to join her in the orgasmatron? Form an orderly queue.

I for one think this whole remake phase is a positive thing. By the time they are all crashing at the box office, my writing will just be coming into its own, and maybe I'll have a chance against all you pros!! Barbarella is most definitely a classic.

I agree the original was a classic, but for what it was THEN. There's no way it would hold up to today's more jaded audiences. Much of the sexual subject matter will be old news to the MTV generation.
I don't see a re-make being very successful...even if they cast the hottest girl imaginable and have her fulfilling her(and our) most outrageous sexual fantasies in the most extreme detail....Umm...on second thought...Ignore what I've said.

I'm sorry, but I have yet to see Drew's sex appeal. She's cute, not sexy.

Gives a new meaning to 'Vanity Project'. Jane Fonda v Drew Barrymore? Tyson v Minni-me would be a fairer fight.
