View Full Version : Cole needs help...

Guys and Guyettes.
I need to pick your collective brains to find
films where one character CLOBBERS another
character with a shovel, stick, rock or whatever.
Some examples. In PSYCHO when Bates clobbers
some woman in the kitchen with a shovel. WHONG!
In HOME ALONE when the tall dumb burglar gets
hit in the face by the iron. In HOME ALONE II
where the same moron gets hit in the head with
a brick. In BUTCH CASSIDY when Butch kicks the
big guy in the tool section.
Really appreciate the help.
Cole

hows about in THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY when Damon clonks PSH on the head with the vase or statue or whatever it was.

The old lady whacked with a shovel was in Psycho II. I saw that in the theater as a kid, and it messed me up for life. :D

Another good one is in Casualties of War, when a slightly psycho Michael J. Fox clocks an unsuspecting Sean Penn with an entrenching tool (classic military folding shovel).

I know the Rock is tough and all, but swinging around a 4x4? really?? Geezus I might actually have to see that now. Does he hold it by the trailer hitch?

Wendy clobbers Jack with a baseball bat in The Shining.
And isn't there a pretty decent baseball bat clobbering in Goodfellas?

Oh, and for originality, how can we forget the penis statue bludgeoning in Clockwork Orange?

If we're talking baseball bat bludgeonings, we can't leave out Robert DeNiro as Al Capone in The Untouchables, teaching his henchmen a lesson about teamwork.

Frying pan in throw momma from the train.

cricket bat in teenage mutant ninja turtles (and a golf club)

there was a nasty ball breaker ( Eastood to JAWS) and the axe handle fight in Pale Rider

Shovel to the face in that one Ernest movie ( with the troll?)

I'll think of some more on my way home...

Dclary.
Is that a short, a music video, TV show?
I haven't seen it.
Cole

Thanks everybody else. Great stuff
Need more if you have it.

Cole, it's one of the greatest segments of one of the greatest comedies ever set to celluloid: Weird Al Yankovic's legendary film, UHF.

Rent it. Now. You will DIE laughing.

I can't help but think of "the preacher" in Pale Rider who skillfully uses a "good piece of hickory" on the town thugs.

John Goodman with a bowling ball and a boombox in BIG LEBOWSKI

Afraid she'll get shot for this but venturing this anyway...

Steven Seagal clobbering an opponent in the mouth with a billiard ball tucked into a towel. (Does that count?)

Freddy's dead - the Final nightmare - when he clocks Johhny Depp with the frying pan.

Kyra' Sedgwicks ball shot to Dennis Quaid in Something to Talk About

When the doctor smokes Arnold in the face with his cast in Terminator 2.

Reese hitting the Termintor with the steel pole in the original

50 first dates - when Drew hangs a beating on Rob Scheider

Raiders of the lost ark - When Marion bashes Indy with the mirror (still makes me laugh) - Raiders again - when marion wacks the guy over the head with the burning log in her bar. Same with a frying pan later.

Thomas Jane knocking the guy over the head with the closed butterfly knife in the The Punisher

Beverly Hills Ninja - when he takes out the guys with the two big fish

The Hulk - when he goes apes*hit with the tank turret

Weird Science - the scene where Chet is bonking the guys on the head with the shotgun

Back to the future - when mcfly gets knocked on the head with old biff's cane

Dodgeball - nuff said

George of the Jungle - the cocanuts to the head and nards on the tree limb

Any jackie chan movie - from ladders to deer antlers

I can vaguely remember a scene where someone gets leveled by a large textbook, but can't recall the movie.

The perfect weapon - Jeff Speakman going at a bad guy with wrenches

I am not sure if these three have already been accounted for:

Fried Green Tomatoes (cannot remember but there is a scene of clobbering)
Dolores Claiborne - Kathy Bates hits her husband
The Shining (Duval hits Nicholson)

I believe it was a 37mm anti-aircraft round that gets dropped from the roof onto the Navy corpsman's head in 1941.

Doesn't someone get clobbered with a toilet in Boondock Saints?

Robert Duvall whacks a guy with a baseball bat in The Apostle.

Ditto on UHF. It's gold, I tell ya.

Brad Pitt whacked in the face with a 2x4 in Kalifornia. I mention this more for the hillarious voice Pitt has after having his nose caved in. Sounds as though his only cure would be a gallon of nasal spray.

Pirattes of the Caribbean.

Elizabeth clobbers the bald pirate with the bed warmer and Will gets Sparrow with an oar. (poor Jonny, sounds like he's taken quite a few hits.)

Ditto Jackie Chan.
Those are the most original fight scenes ever! They must take the record for sheer number of unique items used in hiliarious ways.

Seah Penn puts a serious hurting on some kid with a sock full of sand or something in that prison movie from way back.

Liberty Valance uses the handle of his lash to beat the editor almost to death in The Man who shot Liberty Valance.

In The Rainmaker Matt Damon incapacitates the abusive husband with the man's own baseball bat and then Clair Danes finishes him off with it.

In Saw Zep got killed by a toilet tank lid.

I think I vaguely remember some movie or TV show where some person got beat to death by a frozen chicken.

There's a HALLOWEEN movie where M.M. gets done in with a pipe at the end, A PIPE! I mean, come on!! Aparently the filmmakers had just given up at that point and didn't care who knew.

One of the most wicked hits I saw in a film was in POWER OF ONE.

SPOILERS++++++++++++++++++++++++

Maria comes straight at camera and takes it in the forehead with a police baton. She's ratcheted back. While she's on the floor her forehead graduallly splits open.

Hope that helps.

I guess I'll mention the ending of Secret Window. They also step up to the plate in Casino.

The funniest is when Pesci beats the cowboy guy with the phone.

The cowboy guy wasn't Bill Marq., was it?

Deek, I'm ashamed of you. Are you not going to mention FOTR where Sam whacks the orcs with a frying pan during the Rumble in Moria?

There's also the opening sequence of Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre II, where some chick gets it in the face with a shovel...and does the part where they nail Michelle to the chair count?

That reminded me of the beatdown fantasy in High Fidelity where Tim Robbins gets hit with a phone and an air conditioner.

One memorable bash was Ray 'I'm the daddy!' Winstone clobbering a fellow borstal boy in "Scum" with a sock filled with snooker balls to the face.

Vinnie Jones in "Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels" smashing a tanning table onto the head of a hapless victim.

I would imagine that the latest Elijah Wood flick, "Green Street" will feature more thuggery than one could shake a stick at seeing as it's all about West Ham football hooligans.
