I read here and in the Cole/Haag that you put book titles in caps and in quotes. Example:

"THE CATCHER IN THE RYE"

Do you also do that in dialgoue?

FRANKEL
Have you ever read "CATCHER IN THE RYE"?

BILL
I'm waiting for the movie.

Is that correct?

Thanks.

i've never seen a book's title written like that at all. i've seen short stories and song titles in quotation marks and i've seen books' titles simply underlined.

Mickey listens to the Beatles' "A Day in the Life" while reading Jonathan Lethem's Gun, With Occasional Music.

so...my answer is...i dunno. i don't do it like that at all.

how's that for helpful?

That sounds like he's shouting.

Which could be funny.

But probably not intentional.

Caps in dialogue indicate shouting.

Just use quotes.
