Interesting choices, though, David. Not sure any of them would appear on my Top 10, but I like several of 'em.

I'm not saying these should be everybodies top ten but thought we might get ideas from one another for movies to check out. I also did a search within the film thread and got no results from top ten or top or ten.

No-no, I didn't mean to imply that you were trying to say this was a be all-end all list of Top Ten.
This was the thread I was thinking of:

You obviously underestimated Harrison Ford's ability to act like a plank of oak.

Actually the only good line in the movie was when Ford, after the explosives went off and the dam was still standing, screamed at Robert Shaw
IT DIDN'T WORK!!!!

Gregory's Girl...A film that I've often heard good things about and yet have never seen. Will put this in my Netflix queue.
Gotcha is a wonderful little film that no one knows about. All I remember about it is that it deals with relationships beteeen men and women...I think. I may have to see this again to remind myself why I liked it.

Gotcha wasn't a bad little comedy/espionage caper. If you can take Anthony Edwards playing a teen Bond. I keep meaning to pick up the dvd. It's usually pretty cheap

Yes, Gotcha was good too...and many more people know about that one.

Seeing Gregory's Girl and Romy & Michelle in any "top 10" list is a boggling experience. Just thought I'd toss that in. But it would be a dull world indeed if we all liked the same things.
Someone asked much the same question over on Absolute Write a few days back, I defined my top 10 as the DVDs I'd take with me onto a desert island if I got shipwrecked and had a solar powered DVD player.
Forbidden Planet
The Big Country
Guys & Dolls
West Side Story
The Long Ships
The Vikings
Seven Samurai
The Warlord
The 300 Spartans
Troy

I don't watch movies to analyze them to the point where they are no longer enjoyable. I watch them to have a good time and escape from my ****ty, dramatic life. I saw Romy and Michele in 6th grade, it was hilarious and I memorized it and quoted it as much as I could, people laughed at my Romy impression, and it's a movie that greatly influenced not only who I am as a person, but why I want to be in this industry. All of the movies on my list have influenced me in one way or another, whether they are a good movie or not.

My favorite school related movie is Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Hilarious, great quotes, "People on ludes should not drive" and Phoebe Cates t**s.
My favorite school reunion movie would have to be Gross Point Blank.

Michelle & Romy: yeah, good laugh, shame about the trite ending. Mira Sorvino would be on my top ten list of actresses I've fallen in love with, if that's any consolation.

My list depends on whether or not you want to know what 10 films I enjoy watching the most, or what 10 I consider to be the best. But either way, I couldn't narrow it down. Here's 10 films that I'd include on either list (in no order other than the order in which they appear):
01 - Once Upon A Time In The West
02 - Once Upon A Time In America
03 - Vertigo
04 - Rear Window
05 - North By Northwest
06 - The Elephant Man
07 - The Shining
08 - Jaws
09 - Apocalypse Now
10 - The Godfather
honorable mention to Mulholland Dr. and about 100+ other films.
Goodfellas
Resevoir Dogs
American Beauty
Aliens
Casablanca
Platoon
Memento
Unforgiven
Adaptation
The Shawshank Redemption

Boring afternoon. Results thus far, based on the order in which folks posted their "top 10" -- assuming first listed earns 10 points and last listed earns 1 point. I gave "honorable mentions" 0.5 points each. No doubt the neat spacing will disappear soon as I hit the button...
