Is Courier New preferred? Or does it matter? Courier New seems to be bigger.

And I swear that's my last picky question! Wrapping thangs up right now. After 3 years on and off working on one script, it's about time.

Courier and Courier New are both acceptable. Due to its looser line spacing, Courier New takes up more space than Courier, potentially adding to the page count. The font you prefer really depends on the options available in your software, and your personal taste. Some writers see Courier New as too thin, some writers bold the font they use becase it seems to reproduce better.

There have been many theads on fonts and Courier, one of the more recent being:

Any kind of Courier is all right. As long as it says 'Courier' somewhere in the name, it is fine. The line spacing may be fouled up (e.g., with Courier New when used in certain programs). However, you can adjust the line spacing in Final Draft, MM2K, and Sophocles.

Line spacing is important.

The original "Courier 12pt" was the correct font but newer versions of Windows/Office doesn't include it. Odocoileus is right about "Courier new 12pt". The spacing added 12 pages to my 110 page script.

You can adjust it by forcing the line spacing. In MS-Word:
1. Ctrl-A (Select full document)
2. Menus... Format > Paragh > Spacing >
3. Set to... Line Spacing:Exactly At: 12 pt
4. OK

FACT: Courier New adds about 3 million pages to a 90 page script.

Okay, that's a shocking exaggeration. But that font does make a huge difference in page count.
