Hi Everyone,
I've been trying to track down some solid information about the status of Scenario for several months now. I've actually heard some news about it, so for any subscribers who have been ripped off (or for people who have been thinking about subscribing) you might want to read this.
Back in May I ordered some back issues, but after three months they still hadn't arrived, despite the fact that my credit card was charged on the day I placed the order. VISA just reversed the charges, so thankfully I wasn't screwed on the deal.
Scenario technically hasn't folded yet, but the most current issue (volume 6, no. 1) wasn't even mailed out to subscribers - it was only available at newsstands. Not a very good way to keep people happy! I was thinking about subscribing, but now I won't even consider it unless new management takes over.
Scenario was owned by RC Publications, who also owned Print magazine (a graphic design mag). Due to financial problems, they sold Print magazine to F&W Publications, but as I understand it, F&W was not interested in buying Scenario.
All hope is not lost, as someone can still take it on and resume publishing. If I was wealthy (as opposed to a recent university graduate!) I'd invest the money required to get this magazine started again, as I really think it's a valuable resource for screenwriters. It's a shame that it has been published so sporadically... There have only been 21 issues since Spring 1995, and it was supposed to be a quarterly mag.
Hopefully everything gets sorted out, and Scenario magazine will be back soon.
Bob
