Picked this up the other day and whizzed through it. I am not a big fan of reading horror stories - so I haven't read any of his other books...but the films made of them were enjoyable; as for On Writing - it was interesting to learn about his own personal struggles, and about aspects of his pre-celeb life. In the latter part of the book, the 'advice' that he gives is nothing short of common sense. It's definitely worth a look, IMHO.

Now, back to Our Mutual Friend...

I agree.

This is a great book.

Read "Salem's Lot" in the 7th grade and never looked back.

I'd sleep with "On Writing" under my pillow if I thought it would help ...

As you can probably tell by my moniker, I am a big fan of Stephen King. I'm not necessarily a fan of all of his novels, but I definitely admire his "On Writing" book. I particularly appreciated his recommendation for using the "stream of consciousness" method to overcome inhibitions about writing.

I'm about half way through. Thoroughly enjoyable read, IMO.
