Welcome to the Creative Screenwriting message board!

First, thanks to Will Plyler, Done Deal, and CS columnist and board moderator Jim Mercurio for setting us up!

Yes, after 13 years of print, four Expos, and almost two years of CS Weekly and the Screening Series, we’re jumping into the world of message boards because, well, we still have too much time on our hands.

Grab a pixel and let us know what you think of the mag, how we’re doing. To get you started, here’s a rundown of what’s been keeping us lately:

Creative Screenwriting Magazine
Our flagship is still running strong -- this year alone we talked to Steven Spielberg, Steve Martin, and Steve Kloves (a.k.a. the man who brought all four Harry Potter novels to the screen). And we’ve got more great stuff on tap for 2006, including Robin Swicord on Memoirs of a Geisha, The Shield’s Shawn Ryan on his new show The Unit (co-created with David Mamet), and expanded coverage on writing for videogames. So click here to get a taste of our print magazine. (http://www.creativescreenwriting.com/index.html)

CS Weekly
If you’re not a CS Weekly subscriber, get in on the free weekly fun. News, features, interviews, reviews, and all sorts of screenwriting- and film-related articles, free, every week, delivered right to your mailbox. So sign up through the CS home page and start getting your free weekly writing magazine now! (http://www.creativescreenwriting.com/index.html) And in between Fridays, investigate the CS Weekly archives. (http://creativescreenwriting.com/csdaily.html)

Screenwriting Expo
William Goldman, Joss Whedon, and many more A-listers were hanging out with us at the Los Angeles Convention Center a few weeks ago for Screenwriting Expo 4, our annual screenwriting convention. You can get a little taste of it on the Expo site. (http://www.screenwritingexpo.com/)And…

Expo Seminars on DVD
Whether you want to refresh yourself on a class you took at the Expo, check into some classes you didn’t get a chance to attend, or just check out the screenwriting methods and techniques that of various Expo speakers, the new Expo Seminars on DVD series has 42 DVDs and 3 sets covering all your scripting interests. Click here to see find out more about this unique DVD series (http://creativescreenwriting.com/expodvds.htm). And…

L.A. Screening Series
In L.A.? Get in on our free screening series, run by Senior Editor Extraordinaire Jeff Goldsmith! We screen a new film, then Jeff and the screenwriter do a live Q&A right after. Recent screenings include Golden Globe nominees The Squid and the Whale, Walk the Line, and A History of Violence, as well as Memoirs of a Geisha and the upcoming Eli Roth horrorfest Hostel (with an exec producer with the initials QT scheduled to appear). You can sign up for the screening series right here (http://www.creativescreenwriting.com/index.html)in the upper right-hand corner.

Podcasts!
Not in L.A., or just too wired to leave the house. Check out the CS Podcast series! The tireless Mr. Goldsmith converts his post-screening Q&As into podcasts that you can listen to on your home computer, your iPod, or anywhere else you can play an MP3 file. Learn more about podcasts here. (http://www.creativescreenwriting.com/podcasts/main.html)

So click it, check it, and we’ll see you on the boards!

Write on,

Jim, Thanks for the best screenwriting magazine available. I've also been listening to the podcasts, which I find absorbing. Great work on all counts!

There’s some nice content on the SC site. I’ve been enjoying the Expert Witness archive, in particular. Nicely done.

There’s a small typo in a URL in your post: “CS Weekly … Fridays, investigate the CS Weekly archives” refers to http://http//creativescreenwriting.com/csdaily.html (http://http/creativescreenwriting.com/csdaily.html)

which bounced me to the Microsoft homepage (not as obvious what the correction is when the URL bounces). There’s a similar mistake in LA Screening Series.

Thanks, I think they are fixed.

I won't be able to keep up with as much comprehensive information as Den, but I'll be in and out to mix it up.

It's good to watch CS delve into new media areas.

First the great weekly news e-letter. Then the podcasts via i-tunes. Next the Expo DVD's (Joss on order and looking forward to watching it). Now this section at DD...

Keep up the great work!

I think you get the strange characters when you do a cut-and-paste from certain other applications.

I suspect Macintosh involvement, too, though I cannot be sure of that. :)

The weird changes happened when the DD boards switched over to the new system. It looks normal in the original thread.

And, no, I can't afford a new computer; I'm a filmmaker. ;-)

My apologies.

What kind of films do you make?

Jim,

My apologies.

What kind of films do you make?

Ones that keep me up all night until now trying to do a Final Cut Pro Online of a film edited on the Avid. Grrrr.

Jim,

Thanks for the info.

The title "Hard Scrambled" caught me off guard. The term used to mean when someone did too much heroin and their brains were hard scrambled.
