Optioned CRASH TEST DUMMIES today to a small LA prodco. They're taking it to Sony and Warner Bros. -- fingers crossed.

That's cool! Hope everything works out wonderfully. Just wondering how long it took from query to the option deal?

Writer1,
Congrats, man.
I assume this was a paid option?
Good for you.

Yes, a paid option for small $, but for a VERY short time...2 months. The producer believes we'll know very quickly if a studio is gonna want it.
The script was written 2 years ago and this prodco was interested at the time, but their interest waned. We queried them by email.
This summer, I called and asked for their coverage...they asked if it was still available. It was, and discussions followed.
Since then, the script has been covered by ICM...all categories were "so-so's and goods", but the producer said he still wanted to make it, and that ICM's coverage is notoriously tough and that we shouldn't worry about the coverage.
Over the past 3 months, we've worked on addressing some issues raised in the ICM coverage and the script is much better.

Congratulations writer1!
I've read several of your script pages posts back in the day and always thought they were well written.
Hey, how did you get covered by ICM? Did you query or get a referral? Going to start querying in the coming months and ICM will be on my list, even if they "only take new clients through referrals".
Good luck!

Frankclone, I did have pages up a couple of years ago...as I tell people, the script starts with an atomic bomb going off -- and then it gets exciting!
Vertigo, the script was covered by ICM because I won the LOGLINE LOTTERY over at twoadverbs.com. Oddly enough, the prodco is a client of ICM's, so it may or may not be "re-covered" now that it's optioned and because of the script changes made in the last 3 months.
