If you're into writing action-adventure, "Writing The Action-Adventure film, by Neill D. Hicks, is a book I highly recommend. I learned a great deal from this book and gained a new respect for the genre as a result.
Neill Hicks goes beyond formulas and provides the reader with a firm understanding of why action-adventures films work - and why sometimes they don't work. He discusses the history of the genre, structure, characters, and more - and explains the reasons why certain conventions exist.
An enjoyable and informative read.
