Is there any possible way to admit that there is nobody attached since I don't know anybody? Any way at all of admitting this much in my response to this producer without looking unprofessional? How might I handle such a question?

Thanks.

(I wouldn't actually say - "No, I don't know anybody.") You get the idea.

Dude.
Just tell him there aren't any attachments.
You're a writer, not a producer.
Most scripts from writers don't have crew attachments.
You certainly aren't alone in this regard.
He's probably asking because he wants to use
his own crew.
You have nothing to hide.
In many cases no attachments is a good thing.

Absolutely what Cole said.

In fact, you are lucky you don't know anyone. It's sad when the writer knows an actor and 'attaches' them - even though they may not be the best person for the job.

Honestly, unless you've managed to attach Nicole Kidman to your script, you are probably better off not attaching anyone.

BTW, for Hazeem and any other Australians here:

SBS Independent has put out a call for 5 minute script submissions. Payment = $5000.
