I don't have all that much money so must be picky about what competitions to enter next year.

Can anybody explain their experiences with this competition?

Thanks.

While I have heard that Slamdance is considered a major to mid-major competition, I was thoroughly disappointed. I paid for two "expert" coverages and received only one. The one I got was from someone whose first line was something like: "I do not like this type of movie." Ever heard of the word "recusal." She or he proceeded to make comments on some screenplay. It could not have been mine. The comments were way off as to the very plot of my screenplay. For example, he did not like that my main character was walking around in the past with modern clothing on. Well, he wasn't. He donned period clothing in the very first scene back in time (about page 17). Just one of many examples. In short, I do not think it was read past the first 20 pages, let alone a careful read that I would like after forking over $50.00. Such is the crap shoot of contests. I have done very well in some and others have passed me by. Out of the 20 something that I entered, Slamdance was by far the least professional. However, somebody won so I'm sure there are those who will have praise for Slamdance. Just my pov.

This year, I entered 2 scripts and asked for the 'without coverage' service which is cheaper. Well, they charged me for the coverage service. I sent them 3 e-mails asking if there was a mistake and the only response I received was an invitation to enter an upcoming contest. There you go.
