I was wondering if there is some sort of legal advantage to registering my book with the WGA. What protections are there that are better than or less than just plain old copyright protection.
Thanks,
Selena

WGA registration offers no legal advantages over the original copyright protection.
So if you must register your book, register it at www.copyright.gov

No need to. I was always told by my agents and publishers that once a book is put on paper, i.e. even printed out by a printer or typed by a typewriter, it's protected. When you're published, your publisher will deal with getting you a copyright, and further will deposit a copy of the book with the Library of Congress.

Technically that's correct. The WGA service is just to back you up in case of a lawsuit or something. It isn't ironclad, it isn't compulsory, it's just what the law looks on as corroborative evidence that the work is yours.
