I am switching hats and log in names for the day.

We are going to offer a "short screenplay" section to the Expo Contest this year. We think we have 10k budget to produce a winner's short and we want to give $1000 to another winner.

Do you ever enter short screenplay contests? Or is that more of a filmmaker--as opposed to screenwriter--thing to do? What do you like to see in short screenplay contests? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

There will be a few other cool surprises for the Expo Contest this year.

I enter short film contests, where I the writer can direct the short if I win.

As a writer/director I would get more respect and it opens up options for me and my writing.

So I would enter the contest if I could also direct the short.

I agree with Grace. $10K is a generous budget for a short film, but I wouldn't submit to such a contest unless I were given the opportunity to direct it as well.

Me three. I want one of those director chairs thrown in, too.
