This looks like it will be hilarious!

Title: Beemer
Logline: Beemer Minutia, a young man with big ideas, is coerced by his girlfriend to join an ad agency and enter "real life." He finds that life to be stranger than he imagined when he runs afoul of domestic terrorists, a boy band comprised of eunuchs, a crafty teen nemesis and a crazed suburban mom running a homeowners association militia.

How come insane plots like this novel's only get made if it's just that: Based on a book?

I know this wouldn't have gotten made off that insane log if it wasn't an adaptation. Hollywood makes me angry sometimes.

That's extremely simple: Execs are more willing to take a chance on a wild idea if it's already been proven successful in another medium.
