Anyone enter this? no money prize...in it's third year. Thoughts? Seems like you get good exposure though, if it's true.

My writing partner and I vowed to not enter any more contests, but I caved.
Entered a comedy and a tv pilot, so we'll see. Too many contests these days promising too much in my opinion, but I was the dummy that entered. Probably $76 down the drain.

Yeah, I entered too. I decided to enter a lot of contests this year - making up for the last few years when I didn't enter any.

I entered this one a couple of years ago and placed as a semi-finalist. However, when I checked the winners section of their website, I found that they had posted the wrong email address for me. Given that one of their rewards is exposure on their website, it was a bit agravating to say the least....

I fell for this scam last year. I didn't place anywhere. The Stench of Arizona won. That says it all for me.

Aren't the results coming out today. For some reason I have end of may as the date they reveal the winners. Can anyone else confirm?

Thanks for the reminder. Just as a confirmation, Wild, I have the 31st listed as the date as well.

The winners are up now. Once again, another contest fails to recognize my genius :(

i entered a comedy that was a semi-finalist in chesterfield, new century and several other big ones.
I also entered a Drama that has an identical record. Both scripts are consistently recognized by other know legit contests.
For some reason these two earned no recognition in this contest.
I also entered an SP that is a previously sold assignment (i have 2 sales). My sold assignment was missed by the contest although a production company and myself ripped it apart for a year over and over to get it where is is today. The producers laughed when I told them of its lack of attention. They said
" a contest? thats what parasites do, run contests. You just threw away your money. Let those who can sell your material tell you what works and what doesn't. Don't work back-wards. You have 2 sales why f*ckin go to bogus contests!?"
I guess i was hoping for validation OR at least to find out if this is yet one more bunk scam to take naive writer's money.
Im done withe the contests. Im done anyway, outta $$$.
This 2 sale screenwriter is off to pound nails in the hot sun for the summer. Do all writers do this?
goodbye all : )

I too wanted to know about this. I entered last year and didn't win or place, but this year they sent me an email "reminding" me of the contest with a particular script in mind to send them.
It was odd as I get email reminders of contests all the time (as we all do if we're on enough screenwriting boards), but a contest actually asking for a particular script?
That was odd. But I sent it. Matter of fact I sent them two scripts. The one they asked about and another just to broaden my chances, but...
Anyone heard of a contest asking a writer for a particular script?

People seem to be kind of skeptical of this contest so I just thought that I would add my two cents....I placed first in one of the categories before and I have to say that the response that I received was overwhelming...I'd have to check the exact count, but I think that I had about 25 script requests from A-list people. Unfortunately, I didn't sell the script, but I did make connections with a number of really helpful people who have agreed to read my future scripts. So even though there is no money to win, the contest did deliver on its promise for reads.
Hope this helps.

Got the same email Bobby did. Asking for a specific script with a discount offer on the entry fee. Think I might enter at least one script. The website also says that 7 winners will get $1500 cash each, along with some other good stuff like an HP printer, so there is some money up for grabs.

I'll bet those who received the "personal" email about their scripts once upon a time, long, long ago, paid to have their loglines and a one-pager broadcast to the industry. This company probably sold their contact list to Hollywood's Next Success (or morphed into this contest). I also suspect that "Beth Taylor" who sent the emails (I got one too) doesn't really exist (call me cynical). Their latest offer is tantalizing ($25.00 to enter early) but have any of you tried to contact her? Her mailbox is always full. Their website is even worse. The site has no contact info.

I have a feeling that the Next Success folks use info from Scriptapalooza. My script was out of circulation for a while, but I entered it in Scriptapalooza this year, and less than a week after that contest was over, I got the e-mail solicitation for the same script.
Not likely a coincidence.

I, too, got the individual script-reference e-mail. It was a new script, and the only place I had it posted was on Triggerstreet, so they must have gotten my e-mail address from there.
The script totally sucks, so it makes me laugh every time they send me an e-mail "requesting" that I send it in.
