Okay, I know I'm getting ahead of the game, but just in case...
What is PGL looking for in terms of the screenwriting video? I know it's supposed to be three minutes of who you are and why you should win. Is it supposed to be gimmicky? Have an "angle"? Or just three minutes of straightforward this-is-who-I-am type stuff?
Feedback from those who saw the screenwriting videos from last year would be particularly helpful. Did any see Erica Beeney's video?

Here's what PGL says - (and yes -- this certainly IS putting the cart before the horse) --
(a) The Top 100 Assignment. To have the opportunity to advance to the next round of the Screenplay Contest, each of the Top 100 Screenplay Contestants must prepare a three (3) minute video (the "Screenwriter Video") in which each Screenplay Contestant (including all members thereof if a Writing Team) performs a scene written by the Contestant pitching the Contestant as a writer. General parameters for the Screenwriter's Video will be provided to the Top 100 Contestants when the Top 100 are announced.
(b) Rating the Screenwriter Videos. Promoter will review and rate each Screenwriter Video (the "Screenwriter Video Rating"), focusing in part on creativity, ability to communicate effectively, and adherence to any additional requirements conveyed by Promoter when the Screenplay Video is assigned. Based on the Screenwriter Video Ratings, the Screenplay Round 2 Review Ratings, and the Screenplay Round 1 Review ratings, and the Panel's own review of selected Screenwriter Videos and/or Screenplay Submissions, the Panel will select the "Top 5 Screenplays". The determination of the Top 5 Screenplays shall be made by Panel, on behalf of Promoter, in its sole discretion, and such determination shall be final and binding. In its discretion, Promoter shall have the right to designate alternates to replace any contestants who for any reason are unable to compete in the next round.[/i]
As for what they want? Well, just try to convey as clearly as possible why you should win. I don't think you'll lose points if your camera work is shaky, but it should look like you put in effort. While I haven't seen last years videos, enthusiasm, energy and entertainment probably go a long way towards advancing you. Get to your point, don't try to be too clever and above all tell
And since we're (mostly) talking horror scripts, a little spooky couldn't hurt..... :D

Just sent in my bio video to Project Greenlight. It's amazing how hard it can be to do something good yet informative in the alloted time frame. I hated watching myself on camera and almost didn't send it in, but after realizing that the alternative to not sending it in was to be disqualified, I said there was no way I was going to give up now. I sat/suffered through watching my big fat face on camera and at the end, I'm pretty happy with how the video turned out.
I've been searching online for Erica or anybody elses bio video and I'm getting bupkis. HBO still has "some" information on their site but no video.

Did they already announce the Top 100 screeplays?
If not, why is anyone sending in videos?

YOu are in the director's category? Because they haven't named the 100 screenwriters yet.

Yes. I made it into the Top 250 Directors. That's why I sent in a bio video at this point. They were due yesterday, April 12th.
The Top 100 Screenplays will be announced next Tuesday, April 20th.

That's awesome. Good luck in the 'next phase'.
What did they have you do, anyway? Just 'Hi my name is such and such and I should win because....'? Or did they give you a specific assignment? Also, did you guys have to review screenplays for the first round this year? I remember you did last year and writers got to review shorts, which I kinda missed this year.
Just curious -- kudos to you for making the first cut! And good luck.:D
