I have been reading these last few post about the peer review sites. How many of you use them? Are they benifitial? I have a script I want to enter into a contest. Would it be wise to run it across one of these services first?

Yes and No.
You could get some wonderful, helpful feedback or you could get a bunch of crap.

Still, it's not a bad learning experience reading others scripts. It's not usually a bad place to start getting feedback.

Lots of luck to you.

Well, this is funny. I haven't been to Zoetrope for quite some time until today. I did quite a few reviews last year.

IN opening Zoetrope up today, my mail has some people asking me to review their scripts because I guess that I was listed as a good reviewer.

That is funny.

I have never put one of my scripts there. As far as Triggerstreet, I can't get the thing to work.

I guess I am good at something.

Triggerstreet is a pain in the ass site to work with. All the flash screens dont always work and I cant even get he FAQs up I wanted.

All I wanted to find out is how many reviews I had to do before I could submit and all I could find out was a bunch of gibberish about review credits.

I replied (http://pub18.ezboard.com/ftheofficialunofficialpglmessageboardfrm14.showMes sage?topicID=285.topic) to your original post on Uhuru's board.

To repeat:

Review 2 Scripts. Once you've done that, goto participate, then upload, then upload script and follow the instructions.

Yeah, I just saw that, thanks. I was just commenting here how convoluted their site is....

My experience at Zoe is by far very positive. Very much a workshop atmosphere. Sure, you get some stupid, brainless reviews, but if you network with the regulars you'll not only get some thoughtful, thorough reviews, but a god feel of community, not to mention the occasional tip on prodcos willing to read your screenplay.

Triggerstreet has much more of a competitive feel to it, and by limiting the length of reviews, actually limits the amount of good feedback you'll get.

I've heard a lot of good things about Helium Peer Review as well, though I haven't posted anything there

I have too much trouble with Trigger-street; I don't even try anymore.
Zoe is great. You should put up your script there. In the log line area, first state: Hey, I want this pup in a contest, and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. ( follow that with your log line.)
That should generate a lot of feedback. Good luck.
Keep writing.8)

I once posted a script at Zoe and sent a kind personal letter to various 'top reviewers'. They responded and gave some very insightful reviews. Just a tip.--------------------------------------------------------------------------
