...uh, literally.
Apparently for $1 you can join the list of producers for "The 1 Second Film"
(http://www.the1secondfilm.com ).... AND get listed as a producer on IMDb... now... aside from the donation bit, helping a cause, blah blah blah... my question is, will a producer credit on IMDb help me get my screenplay looked at? I could certainly put it on my resume... hmmmm...
thoughts?

Even though it won't make your career, I think it's a fun idea for a good cause. I'm going to do it.

You're joking, right?
That's like purchasing a Master's Degree from a diploma mill and trying to land a job with it.
Cheesy.

Most people within the industry know about this. It won't help you get your screenplay read, nor would I advise you to put it on your resume. It could also quite possibly be a strike against you if it's the ONLY thing on your IMDb page. If you're going to donate, do so because you want to help not because you want a credit.

there have been far worse (http://youtube.com/watch?v=C2T_1Xo3-t4) ideas.
Crying out for a Charles Manson remix.
I was trying to find the Ray Charles and Nina Simone version. Smokes! Funny vlog.

Jessica made up for the horrible idea with that outfit!
Sadly, I've seen people do things to try to break-in that are far worse.
I remember the ideas I used to cook up, heh. When I look back, I'm glad I had somebody there to tell me not to act upon those ideas. There's really no substitute for hard work. The faster you rise, the faster you fall.

There's also http://www.15minsfame.org, as well as many other similar movie projects, some just seeking help in production costs, others with a generous goal in mind.

I noticed you're one of the writers. Shameless plug.

Just trying to get whatever help I can :)
Ultimately though I know the production costs will be mainly my own though, but hey, I like the goal in mind as well as the general light-heartedness of the film.
