Pondering whether to enter - sixty dollars is a lotta moola right now. Opinions anyone?

I'm entering. To be honest, though, money's not an issue for me. If it is an issue, then I'd ask how comfortable you are with your screenplay's chances? Have you had it reviewed by at least a couple unbiased (i.e. not family or friends) reviewers and received fairly positive reviews?

American Accolades does give a tiny amount of feedback, in both the "what works" and "what doesn't work" categories. Not many contests provide this benefit (Slamdance provides extensive feedback). And they do have among the more credible reputations for providing meaningful connections for winners.

Good luck.

I entered the American Accolades in 1999. I won second place overall and first for my genre (horror/thriller). They paid $500. But more importantly, that's how I met my now manager (he was one of the judges and liked what he saw). I think you should go for it if you have a good screenplay and, of course, the $60 to enter ;)

Good luck!!

Thanks! I'll probably enter. Money is an issue at the moment not because of my doubting of my scripts' worth, but, because I need to be concerned about more than one mouth to feed (nest is not empty yet), and there is a cash flow crisis that will hopefully soon be over. Those who are parents know what I mean. Good luck to all who enter!
