Is it fair to ask them if they can get you work while trying to sell your script. Like Rewrites - television...etc.
Also, should I request a client list?
Thanks

Sure... On both counts.
The "getting work" one is a little more complicated. They need a writing sample that's strong enough for them to go out with in the first place. Even if it doesn't sell it may get you meetings and, if you're lucky, possible assignments. But they can't get you assignments without being able to show potential employers your exceptional talent.

You shouldn't look at rewrites and assignments as hold overs until a sale kicks in. They are quite an accomplishment in themeselves. That's how most writers make a living.

Right, ele, but with a good sample that's tracked well and was a near-miss, you can get execs to put potential assignments on your plate, with the knowledge that others are also looking at them, and you were offered to write a take on them (initially a treatment or a pitch) because you showed exceptional ability in the kind of writing they need at that moment.
