Finding production companies by category?

I am looking to pitch some ideas but I cant seem to search around for production companies based on what kind of production they do. I am looking for companies that specialize in documentaries, maybe combat and or humanitarian issues.

Another idea is to look for already produced documentaries
and find out who the producers are on imdb.com
Just because a producer did a documentary on the Elephants
of Malibu doesn't mean he'll want to do another one on a
similar subject.
Best bet is to find companies that do docs and query them,
not just companies that have done docs like yours.
