So as you might or might not have seen. Creative Content Management wants to read my script. I know nothing of them. I have tried researching them and have found little information. I signed up for HCD and they are listed, but it's not much info. I've sent a query letter out to a few places, but none have responded as of now.

They want me to get my lawyer to make a contract in case they decide to move forward. What would you guys do? Send it in? It sounds like a plan, but I'd have to pay a lawyer to work out an agreement, so I'm wondering if it's worth it. I'd go ahead and do it if I knew more about them than I do. I'm not sure if they are just starting out and wanting a client list, or if they truly do like my idea and can see it being sold.

What do you think I should do?

disclaimer - I do not know anything about CCM and have not heard of them before, but I'm not trying to keep up on all the management companies out there.

That being said - I (personally) would not sign with any management company that expected me to supply the contracts. It's their responsibility, period, and any attempt by them to defray their overhead costs by dumping expenses onto their prospective clients is a really bad sign.

What's next? They charge you for copies of your script? For postage? How long before they refer you to their coverage service?

I'd tell them (politely) that I'd be happy to look over anything they send my way. They should have boiler plate deals they've used with other clients and asking you to draw one up from scratch (and pay for it) is B.S.

The fact that they're asking you for this before they've even read your script sounds like they're trying to get one out of you, so they can have it on file, and save themselves the cost of paying a lawyer to draw one up.

If you still want to try and get the read before making waves, tell them you'll look into it and do nothing. Or lie and say you've found a guy who might do it pro bono, but he's never heard of them and wonders where they worked before starting their company? Got bios?
