I never thought a movie could be funnier than Happy Gilmore.

I never thought a movie could be funnier than Superstar.

But two men twirling like ladies with their gagging faces in each others' groins...I daresay this could be the funniest movie ever.

Way to go, movie. You made my night. :D

Trailer looks ok...

Actually, screenwriters are writing on their sports comedy script title pages:

"A Will Farrell Sports Forumla Comedy"

Next sports film for the actor: "A Will Farrell Formula Basketball Comedy".

Passe screen scripts:

"An Adam Sandler Formula Goofball Comedy"

"A Ben Stiller Formula Screw Up Comedy"

Where are Harold Ramis and Bill Murray when you need them?

I was skeptical about this movie because, yes, the promotional material just looked "okay," but damn. This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in years.

This was way better than I thought it would be. It started strong, the middle sagged badly, mainly because those skating siblings they put them up against just weren't all that funny. That last 20 minutes were just hysterical, Ferrell stole the show.

I just don't get what's so funny in this film

Will phoned it in and Heder never had any talent anyway
Everything is generic and on the nose

the whole movie is a one scene joke of two guys iceskating together

I haven't seen the movie yet but I'm just wondering.

How much were these guys REALLY skating?

I've been taking lessons for about 3 years now and I'm just getting to the point where I can do the basic jumps and a few dance moves.
(I actually survived my first triple combination jump today.)
Trust me, it is MUCH harder then it looks.

So I just wonder, how much of it was them, how much was pro skaters who stand in, and was any of it wire work?

Maybe I'll see it cuz I could use a decent comedy in my life.

I remember when I went ice skating to impress a date. I climbed on my skates and felt like a giant. I went from five-foot-two to five-foot-four . . . maybe more. Being the athlete that I am, I immediately attempted a double klutz and landed on my wrist. The blade severed my hand but I was in the zone and I didn't realize it.

As I continued skating and swinging my arms all feminine, a little girl behind me shouted, "Sir, sir!"

I finished my cool spin move, cocked my neck back and looked back at the little girl who held a bloody hand.

"Whoa! You cut off your hand!" I shouted.

But I sharply noticed she had three hands and one was a man's hand that wasn't attached.

I said, "Your dad cut off his hand!"

Her eyes widened. She lunged at me, squeezed me and said, "Daddy!"

I said, "Whoa, back the f#*&$ up!" So she backed the f#*&$ up.

I said, "I ain't'chur daddy. I know all my babies and my babies' mommas.

But I couldn't take my eyes off the hand and keenly noticed that no one else was missing a hand. That's when it hit me. The hand could be mine. I then asked her for it to get a good look at the high school ring on it. Yup, it was my hand. I screamed. That's all I remember. I had it reattached but it's just there . . . useless.

Goodnite, all.

I thought it was good, I thought it was funny and I'm not sure whether this is a complaint or an observation, but a lot of Will Farrell's movies lately have a really similar structure/forumla-- specific to the movies he's in. It must be working with so many of the same people every time?

If this is true, that's a real shame, sorry..

If this is fiction, you did a damn good job with the set up and the payoff, you had me going there for a while..

Captain Hook...

I should've used that in there somewhere!

No need to be sorry, Kevan. It isn't true. My hand works just fine. I used it this morning. I'd rather not share what I did.

Funny. Not as gut bustingly funny as I'd hoped, but still funny.

And i thnk Khabs nailed it, Ferrel phoned the performance in. Just another version of Ron Burgendy, Iceskater.

Huh?

Seriously. I meant it. His movies are exactly the same. One day it's in a race car, the next day it's on ice skates. Same movie.
