View Full Version : How much time do they need to read a script?

Here's a general question: I was contacted by 8 or 9 management co.s after the Nichol announced the qfinalists and above (I was a qfinalist and did not advance, the f*ckers). I sent out my script to these companies--all legit--on or about the 17th of October. We're approaching the one month mark, and I've only heard back from one company (it was a pass, the f*ckers). Anyway, do we think this means they've read and are passing and there's no hurry to tell me; they haven't read it yet because they contacted a lot of the qfinalists etc, and have a lot of reading to do, or some mix of the above? Also, should I contact them about where they're at, or should it be the other way around, since they asked me to read my script?

Any and all advice, opinions, donations etc are welcome.

Give them 6-8 weeks then follow up.

Jim is right -- no reply after a few weeks generally does mean they've passed.

That said, I've had two cases where the script was misplaced (lost, tossed, or in a badly organized office) and three cases where the person who requested the script has left the company since the request and the new person knows nothing about the script.

So it *always* pays to check back -- you have nothing to lose. Five weeks from your submission date is about right and if they say it hasn't been read yet, diplomatically ask for a time frame.

Sixridge,

they haven't read it yet because they contacted a lot of the qfinalists

Very likely. They may be slogging through 300+ scripts. As a semifinalist last year my response times ranged from about 3 weeks to three months to never.
