Hi, please only respond if you have taken Tim's class @ the Expo or something just like it, with Tim.

I got one email from a board member with good info, but would appreciate more.

Assuming they're limiting the # of people, and it's not filled...

"Who" is this experience for? I think it would be awesome. I'm not a hard core follower of Tim's shows. But, I have enough time to get up to speed at a decent level.

If I'm not a hardcore Angel, Firefly, or Wonderfalls fan, would I still be welcomed in the room?

4 hours with this guy just seems like a too-good-to-be-true event.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

You can order and watch Tim's "Breaking the Story" here (http://creativescreenwriting.com/store/dvd046.htm). A fun hour or so, definitely (especially here where they break a potential "Angel" episode).

cool. great. i KNOW where to buy the DVD.

I'M ASKING ABOUT THE CLASS.

the EXPO has gotten my $$ for ALL of the Expo's. Please do not try to sell me DVD's or products. pretty insulting. my post was asking about those who took the class.

Michael,

I suggest you follow "protocol" and give your fellow posters some damn courtesy and respect.

That’s all.

Are you interested in writing for TV? If so, take the class.

I took the first one he gave and it was incredibly insightful. I expect 4 hours to be really awesome, though I likely won't be able to attend. :(

I would say have some knowledge of shows he has written. It's possible that a random show could be chosen to break (like House or CSI) but far more likely to be one Minear has written for or run.

Good luck!

I was under the impression that the DVD was shot during the actual class, which would actually make it a relevant reference as to whether or not the class was any good. If someone hasn't been to the class but has watched footage of it, then they're not crazy for thinking they might have a useful opinion to offer you.

Also, to my knowledge, nobody's who's recommended the DVD is someone who stands to make any money off its sale, so it seems that they were more trying to make a helpful recommendation than trying to sell you anything.

I understand that it can be frustrating when a thread goes off track, but it's still possible to say "thanks but no thanks" without accusing everyone who doesn't answer exactly the way you were hoping of having rude or self-serving intent. Sometimes people really are trying to be helpful and just misunderstand what information you can use.
