Ever since news (http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/07/16/gi-joe-movie-will-feature-cobra/) about a G.I. Joe movie hit over the summer, the project has been gaining quite a bit of attention (http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/08/24/stephen-sommers-to-direct-live-action-gi-joe/) and early buzz. It's one of the numerous 80's franchises that are being adapted into a film in the next few years, along with He-Man, Thundercats, and Voltron. A couple of exciting updates have arisen in regards to the G.I. Joe movie in the last few days, including a 2009 release date and the first casting announcement!
