My filmmaking partner has a film in distribution that he wrote, directed and produced. (It got good reviews). He just finished writing, directing and producing a second feature that he sent to Sundance last week.

Does anyone know of managers/ agents looking for up-and-coming directors? He graduated from NYU Film School and has a solid film background. What he does not want to do (and can't and won't) is try to get representation by selling a spec. Please don't suggest that - his spec writing is no good and he doesn't like to write.

if his films do well in festivals, either by winning awards or getting distribution, agents will find him.

if his films screen at festivals and fail to generate any buzz, it's unlikely that most reps will want to do business with him.

I hear you, and thank you, but the first film got raves in the village voice, variety, film threat, chicago reader, ny daily news, a good one in the ny times, and then distribution. And the agents did not find him. They all said "keep me posted."

I put up the post to find those agents/ managers looking for proven directing talent, who won't ask for the next hot script.

So keep them posted with his next film. Either send them copies of the film, and/or send them announcements every time the new one gets a festival invitation or a win.
