No. We are not Entertainment Law Attorneys. We are a Production and Management Company.
We have clients that range from Screenwriters to Rap Artists and we have relationships with major studios and major record labels.
Hope this helps.
Take Care.

I think they have a pretty good website. Great graphics and music. The site gives the impression they accept screenplay queries. Pretty cool.
I probably won't ever query them because they require inch and a quarter brads on any screenplays submitted. I'm just setting myself up for rejection since I can only find inch and a half brads anyplace I've looked.
If inch and a quarter brads ever become widely available in small-town America, I'm sure the new "screenplay brad standard" in Hollywood will become inch and three/sixteenths,
without which no script will have a prayer. Nobody will even be seen in the same Hollywood restaurant with a "brad heretic."
I can picture a closed-door meeting with a big Hollywood producer about my screenplay. "It was a hell of a story but the ignorant sumbitch used brads a little too long. It's a pass."
Someday, I'll tell the great grandchildren how I came within one quarter of an inch of making something of myself in the movie bidness.
I coulda been a contender.

I agree. It's not a bad site. It says one of his clients is teamed up with a grammy award winning producer.Hmmmm...

I checked their site out and was impressed with the bust of "Akenatan", (ie; Amenhotep IV) husband of "Neferititi" and father of "Tutankaman".
He was the Pharaoh who introduced the concept of monotheism within Egypt and moved the ancient capitol from "Thebes" to a new city he constructed in the desert called "Amarah"!
After his mysterious death, "Amarah" was destroyed, "Akenaton's" mummy was defiled and all images of him and references to him were eradicated from existing stella and other monuments. "Tut" was raised by the Grand Vizier "Aye", and the capital reestablished in "Thebes". "Aye", who is depicted on the walls of Tut's tomb performing the opening of the mouth ritual(reserved for priests) and in fact "Aye" was a priest of the God "Amun" but in the relief "Aye" also wears the garb of not only a priest of "Amun" but also that of a Pharaoh, an impossibility under normal circumstances as "Aye" was a commoner?
Many archaeologists thus believe "Tut" was murdered by "Aye" (or) possibly the commander of the Egyptian Army "Hamarab" who succeeded "Aye" as Pharaoh.
All of this served as the back drop for the movie "The Egyptian"... just a bit of trivia I felt compelled to underscore... that and the fact that I long ago started work on an unfinished script about this very exact historical footnote.
In any event I was wondering, if Paul Lane sees this, why he picked a bust relief of this particular Pharaoh to highlight on his web site? Just curious!

Loved your Egyptian history. My daughter is a nut for Pharaoh stuff. When she was a little girl, we took her to the "Treasures of King Tut" exhibit when it was in Seattle. It impressed us grown-ups but really blew her away. She's been big on ancient Egypt since. We even bought her a computer game called "Pharaoh" where you build ancient Egyptian cities and try to wisely rule your kingdom on the Nile. She's a big, married girl now with a good job and still stays up late playing it. I'll copy and send her your comments if you don't mind. - gg

Why did I pick Akenatan? Well, it's quite simple -- he represented change.
Not to mention I am a big collector of Egyptian artifacts and the 18th dynasty is my favorite of them all.

One last word on this subject. It is believed that Akenatan [sic] was the inspiration of the Oedipus legend for the following reasons: Oedipus means swollen legs and Aknaton had such a deformity; he married his mother; and he erased all references to his father, leading to the plot line that Oedipus killed his father. This cat is one of history's most fascinating characters. I wish I could remember the name of the author that delineated this connection in detail -- Velikovsky? The author also makes a parallel case about the origins of the Moses myth.

Yea... it was a cool dynasty Paul and I figured that's why you chose Akenaton too... change! There aren't to many representations of him left. It was a lucky find indeed when they came across that unique bust of Nefertiti in what's left of "Amarah" I think the Nefertiti bust is the most beautiful example of an 18th dynasty piece and demonstrates the artistic "climate" Akenaton created at Amarah during it's heyday.
It must have been a great environment for a kid like Tut to grow up in. Akenaton's concept of the "Aton" and it's sun disk representation was a radical concept to introduce to a society that functioned on a religious base composed of a myriad of God's that controlled virtually all aspects of life and the environment.
Akenaton was really ahead of his time and also posed a threat to the wealthy priest caste, especially of the God's that were considered "primary" like Amun and it's powerful priest clan.
At any rate I enjoyed our little side trip back in time. I'll soon be sending you a script you requested, I hope you enjoy the read.

Acco Solid Brass Fasteners, No. 5
Box of 100
Accept no substitutes. You are right. You cannot buy them in small-town America. You cannot buy them in big-city America, either (at least, not in most places).
You go on line and order them.
One place: The Writers Store, which is probably:
www.thewritersstore.com (http://www.thewritersstore.com)
If not, just google for it.
The folks at The Writers Store are helpful and nice. They have lots of other nice things to buy also.

Paul, I was just printing out a copy of a script your requested when I downloaded your release form I was a bit surprised!
It's the standard stuff until you mention that I will release your firm from "all liability" including claims arising out of "copyright infringement, contractual claims (or) torts"?
In essence you are asking a writer to sign away all of his (or) her rights. Copyright infringement, claims arising out of contractual issues and "tort" claims are not considered standard release form fare?
Your release indicates I will retain full rights to property but the preceding paragraph specifically prohibits me from litigating such rights?
Paul, no writer would sign away his right to litigate copyright infringement (or) contractual obligations on the part of a Producer (or) Manager?
Please explain, perhaps I'm missing something here?

After stumbling onto this thread and visiting the site(eliciting my side trip down the Nile) I thought your name sounded familiar. I never downloaded a release form from your web site, in fact I did not query you.
I had received an e-mail request from "Paul Lawrence Productions, Inc." with the attached release form. The e-mail was signed "Paul".
Again Paul, I really apologize about misidentifying your firm as the one who sent me the unusual release form!
Feeling like a jerk!

No worries. And for the brads -- If you don't have 1 1/4" not to worry. If your script goes to a studio...before it leaves my office, it will. And if you become my client and you still don't have 1 1/4" brads...you will have a nice Christmas gift that you can use--LOL
take care everyone it's been fun!

Like all of us here, I've dealt with my share of newbies and wannabe managers, but I've had some dealings with Paul and his team and these are the kind of guys worth your time. They seem to have a very clear vision of what they want to do.

Actually, I had an opportunity to meet with Paul and his partner Brian Karul. They were nice guys and had some very interesting things to say along the lines of their projects and overall approach to management.
They seemed to place an emphisis on career as opposed to just sending a script out to sell it as soon as they could. Which is what a manager should do, let the agent sell the script. They're ambitious and seem to have the foresight to look outside the confines of LA for talent. I met with them in Chicago where they are looking to open up a second office. Which would be a complete anomaly here even though so much has come out of this town and is here right now. So if your in the Midwest and don't plan on moving to LA anytime soon, it might be worth your time to check them out.
They said the rep in areas ranging from screenwriting, to music, to actors, producers and directors.
I found this approach interesting since on the surface it would allow them to create work for their clients by integrating them with their other clients. Say if they rep an established producer, they might be able to link them with a new writer who has material that appeals to that producer. Naturally, this would give the writers work a much closer inspection if it were coming from another source, even other notable agencies and managers.
Same can be said of a talented, but as yet unheralded video director who might be able to get a nod on a musical artist who has a decent rep and vice versa.
Of course none of this would be a conflict of interest because it would be the agents doing the deals and they would be doing what a manager should be doing, exposing you to individuals who might prove beneficial to your career.
For the record they have not offered to rep me, so these were just my general impressions. Sure there are much older and well established firms, but everybody has to start somewhere and they seem to be off to a good one.
Oh and no they don't charge.
