After you are lucky enough to get someone to agree to read your script, how long do you wait until you check in?

I usually wait 8 weeks... figure you have to give them time to get to it... but I've found in the past that they won't get to it until you check in and then they read it...

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Ask them when you send it to them when to follow up.

If you are communicating via mail then I'd call the person you addressed it to (assume its not going to "Whom It May Concern") and ask their assistant.

Otherwise I let 2 or 3 weekends go by. Not weeks, weekends.
But I always ask when I'm on the phone with them - its polite, proactive but not pushy.

BTW - Gotta jump on you for saying "lucky" as if you didn't deserve it or something. You must have done something right in order to get a request. Congrats!

I usually wait about 36 hours then I do a couple drive-by's at their home. A flaming bag of dog poo is usually my next move followed by a 9 piece mariachi band at 3am.

Actually, Bono, your 8 week rule seems to be what I've seen others post on here. I wait about 6-8 weeks before following up with a manager/agent.

In my experience, when I've had to follow up with managers who had been sitting on my script for 6+ weeks, I didn't hear back from them after the follow-up either.
The other managers who've requested my script usually got back to me in about 2 or 3 weeks without a follow-up.

I took the no-replies as a not interested and didn't pursue the issue further. Maybe I should have called, but I would assume they'd be in contact with me if they liked my script enough.

just my 2 cents. Best of luck!

I sent a query via e-mail... it's a production company.

What happened was I sent them a query via their website... they asked to read it 2 months later... I sent it to them that day and they rejected it the next day. But... weeks later I got a manager, from that same script.... he helped me spruce it up... it was the same idea, just now a much better screenplay.

So, on my own, I e-mailed the production guy again and said, look it's better. Will you take another look. And he said, "okay".

I sent it to him March 4. So it's only 20 days, but yes 3 weekends...

I would follow up in 4 weeks not 8, that can hardly be described as hounding.

ROTLMAO!!!

I order a hundred pizzas, toss rabid raccoons down their chimneys, then release mustard gas into their heating system.
