Who Accepts Query Letters?

I've been calling a bunch of production companies listed on the pay section of this site, but after calling about 20, I've stopped because they say that they don't accept "queries for unsoliticed screenplays."

Does any production company accept them?....

I have an excellent comedic screenplay (my 6th one) that's getting anxious to find a reader!

Any advice, anyone?

They all say they don't accept unsolicited submissions. So my advice is don't ask. Just do it. Submit by email, snail mail, fax, whatever, to anyone and everyone you want to get to. 9 out of 10 still won't read it, or respond, but you'll find a few that will (but who would never admit on the phone that they accept unsolicited submissions). If you like to phone query, you need a clear strategy to get past the receptionist. PS...they're the one's trained to say they don't accept unsolicited.

Someone here at DD posted a very good phone conversation guideline for how to pitch over the phone. I've lost it, but maybe someone else can re-post the link?

I would say never send an email to info@ or general@ - queries@ maybe, since that suggests they expect them. Look up indivicual emails in the HCD or IMDPpro. If they're not given, guess. Try lastname@, firstname@ firstinitiallastname@, and if it doesn't bounce back it's probably right. I have heard - don't know if it's correct, but it makes sense - that it's better to send them during working hours, since many people begin the day by throwing out all the overnight spam.
