Well, that answers that.
Indeed. And I find his degree of ambiguity quite appealing.

Well, I found the question ambiguous. We must question the question.:)
Did danb really mean to ask: should I create a logline before I write my screenplay?

Did danb really mean to ask: should I create a logline before I write my screenplay?
And did danb mean "Thanks for any feedback.."?
He uses "..", the elipstop, half way between a period/full stop and an ellipsis. We all know what that means.
And the answer, "No." How accurate is that. Did Joe really mean "No", or did he/she fall asleep on the send button before completing "No idea."
Look at it this way. A woman walks into a pharmacy and asks for enough cyanide to kill a man quickly. The pharmacist says there's no way in the world he can sell her cyanide. She shows him a photo of his wife making love to her husband in a hotel room. The pharmacist says, "Oh, I didn't realize you had a prescription."
You're right, he should unambiguously create a logline before or after writing the screenplay, but not include it with the screenplay. (My emphasis.)

I'm sure you mean: he should unambiguously create a logline before and after writing the screenplay, the first for guidance, the second for a query letter.

Yes, I'm sure that's what I meant. Or looking at it slightly differently, one logline for guidance, the last for perfection.
In fact, if it wasn't for the sharp eyes, keen minds and fast fingers of DDP posters I don't think I'd ever be sure what I meant. IYSWIM.
