Jim Mercurio is holding a small, private structure workshop (Killer Endings (http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B000CQCAGY/ref=cm_cr_pr_helpful?%5Fencoding=UTF8&showViewpoints=0)and Theme) on Saturday, November 22, and a scene workshop on Sunday, November 23, in Venice Beach. The classes are interactive stand-alones and run from 9-6 each day. Email (jim@jamespmercurio.com)or PayPal him to sign up. Single class: $139, Both classes: $249. Save $10 per class if you sign up before November 1st.
Saturday's class will include more than half a day of lecture from Jim's Killer Endings--which Creative Screenwriting founder Erik Bauer called "an amazing class"--and updated content from his T-Word: Theme, the only product in the marketplace that focuses on theme. Participants will workshop their own script or ideas using the five killer ending paradigms to clarify the theme, character arc and climax of their story.
Sunday's class will include a bit of lecture combined with intensive workshopping of participants' scenes. The principles of scene writing will be explored in such depth that students will have new way of looking at not only every beat but every word on the page. Scene writing is the most neglected topic in screenwriting educational material, but the craft is essential for a writer to rise to the level of professional. In the last hour of the class, students will go through Jim's process which will make one of their scenes 2, 3 or maybe even 5 times better on the spot.
Jim was a columnist and contributor to Creative Screenwriting for years and directed the original 41 DVDS in the Screenwriting Expo DVD series. He produced the film Hard Scrambled and directed an hour of bonus material (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jim+mercurio)on filmmaking, which the Washington Post called "a must for would-be filmmakers." His Killer Endings and T-Word: Theme DVDs are currently unavailable so this is your only chance this year to hear to hear the material. This class is in a private residence and has max size of ten, so it should fill up quickly.

SOME TESTIMONIALS
"I am not new to script consultants. For the last eight years I have worked with them on and off to get my scripts off the ground, to overcome the usual obstacles of the second act and then finally, to get them to a marketable state ready to submit to the industry. A long and sometimes tedious process, not to mention an expensive one.
I would also enter those competitions which offered feedback, to see how I might best tweak or drastically change the script, based on the Reader's perspective. This ultimately served just to further confuse the issue...
...And then I found Jim Mercurio.
I had the privilege of attending Jim's Killer Screenwriting class in LA in 2008. This was not just a class. It was a reconditioning of my creative mind. It was, for me, as well as the others who attended, a life changing experience.
That course in itself would have been enough to change my writing for the better, forever.
But I was in a time crunch. I had applied what Jim's class had taught me, but I didn't have the luxury of more time to come up with the much-needed major fixes... and I couldn't take the chance of submitting a less-than-fabulous-script to the 15 production companies and agents who had requested the script at a Pitchfest. Time was running out...
...And Jim saved me.
He took an ambitious, challenging drama that most had said was "perfect for a novel" (the kiss of death for a screenwriter) and he helped me turn it into a 112 page screenplay which I am finally proud of.
He not only guided me through the process, he did it quickly and after hours to help me meet my deadline.
As a script consultant, Jim miraculously gets the best out of you....not by only finding the problems, but by kindly, gently helping you find the solutions.
He doesn't criticize, he nurtures. He doesn't tell you WHAT to write, but he throws out a thought and suddenly you know HOW to write. He hints at the best fix allowing you to add your unique style and flavor to achieve the best result.
The man's a genius.
If you're undecided whether you need a script consultant, CALL ME! (321)223-7256. You'll find Jim's the best thing you can do for your writing, for yourself, for your future."

"The “Killer Screenwriting” workshop was the breath of fresh air that my screenwriting needed. Jim is a talented, giving teacher who infuses each student with the belief that success is possible...The ability to connect with other writers committed to the craft, and to learn from a mentor of Jim’s caliber has energized my writing and streamlined my process. In six days, I gained more concrete information on how to improve my scripts and take them to the next level than I was able to glean from six years of attending screenwriting conferences and self-study. I would recommend Killer Screenwriting for anyone who is serious about rolling up their creative sleeves and writing something worth selling."
