Tried to watch it last night. It was terrible. Without the campaign as fodder, it's back to really lame material. Anyone else see it?

They were at the mercy of the guest host. When they have Tim McGraw as their muse, the show is naturally going to take on an air of Blue Collar Comedy Show.

I was at least glad that it wasn't Toby Keith, as I first thought. That guy's a monumental douche.

I hope people realize now it was Tina Fey who was responsible for the buzz, and not SNL.

It was really terrible with all the campaign stuff. But the people liked it.

I think it was the one last week, that was amazing. I've never seen an SNL that funny in a long time. Beyonce was the musical guest, JT made a few cameos. I was actually impressed. Then last nite's was sooo horrible, I couldn't finish it. So I'm wondering why last week's was one of the funniest I've ever seen, then this week, pure garbage.

Me and my SO have been laughing at the Bill Hader Dateline thing for like a week straight.

The first half hour is so bad that I give up before it even gets to the news (although during the election I did wait and watch it). What gets me is that most of the sketches these days have no rhyme or reason to them -- and they aren't funny. They just come up with these characters, not based on anything or anyone we know, that are just strange and not even amusing. Look at the best SNL sketches from the past and it's clear that those characters had qualities/personalities we could identify with, or at least recognize in others we've seen. It always amazes me that some of this stuff is approved for airing.

I've been meaning to give it a shot, but haven't had the time. I only had the drive for the political skits.

I just like when it's absurd.

Anyone remember when the Falconer built a time machine out of wood, mud and gumption, then went back in time to warn himself that his falcon was about to be shot?

He gets there a second too late, then he and the other him from back in time get back in the time machine, go back and repeat the scene. Soon the entire cast was in on it, all dressed the same and saying the dialogue in unison...
