Manager A - is nuts about your script begging for the chance to do something with it. But has limited clout and has yet to prove themselves.

Manager B - likes the script but nowhere near as passionate as Manager A. But he has alot of clout and has proven himself to the industry.

Both managers are legitimate managers.

Which would you go with?

does manager B have a plan for you / your script? do you know how he will use his clout (ie. who he wants to send it to, who would be good for it)?

I was in the exact situation late last year, and I posted here about it to ask for advice. In the end I went with the younger upstarts who loved my script and were energetic.

Once I signed, things were fantastic - I was getting reads all over and being requested for meetings etc. And with my next spec getting ready to go out the door in a few weeks, I was psyched that my time had arrived...

Unfortunately, that only lasted about six months. Then my manager informed me he got a great offer that he couldn't pass up to work as an exec at a prodco, so he took it and closed up shop.

The lesson: Neither option offers a guarantee, so just go with your gut.
