HI All,

Finally made my way over here! MAN this board is busy!!
No place to post an introduction so if ya'll want to get to know me then check out my bio.

Finally got up the courage to check the sales board and see if any one had all ready created and sold "my idea." I'm rewriting my first script which is about the brumbies (wild horses) of Australia. I entered a search topic for wild horses, brumby, brumbies, Australia, Australia's wild horses, and I came up with nothing.

Is there another way of searching for script sales or log lines that have been pitched and accepted? Any other suggestions on how I could find out if my idea is all ready out there in script format?

There are a few sales relating to horses. To find them, go to Google, and enter this search string: "horse site:scriptsales.com".

Thank you. That did pull up a few scripts about horses but none about Australia.

Would it be safe for me to assume that one isn't being worked on? I guess the key is to keep checking back and see if one has popped up.

Thanks.

well, I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Given the high numbers of scripts written every year here in the States and the numbers (that I am unaware of) from Oz, the odds are high that someone, somewhere has or is writing a script a lot like yours.

The trick is a) beat them to it. b) be better c) find them and beat them.

Check these 2 good sources. Also look at www.imdb.com or Aintitcoolnews.com . 8)

I'd like to suggest that you go ahead and write the story. Granted there are probably hundreds maybe thousands of stories about horses but as we've all learned there really isn't a story that hasn't been written before one way or another.

Just focus on writing the best story you can. That's what's so cool about screenwriting, jumping in and creating a beauty that's better than all the rest. Go for it.

I'm not saying to stop your research on other similar scripts just don't get discouraged when you find one that is similar. You can write it better than them.

I know I was intrigued when you mentioned the name of those horses and an Australian backdrop.

Screw the rest when you're the best. My two cents. Now go write it!
