I'm going to go on a limb and say that its usually hard to get these meetings without representation for a variety of reasons. The next best thing is to get introduced the chain link way of knowing somebody who knows someone. They will generally not read unsolicited material emailed to them, even for legal reasons.

Actually. To get a meeting (and the first meeting will be a general meeting) is for someone over there to read a writing sample of yours, probably a pilot, and like it enough to want to meet you. I just started my round of general meetings for staffing season and that's how it works. Your samples go out, requests for meetings come in. I don't think an unsolicited email or call is going to do it. Especially if you have nothing for them to read.

Artisone, are you repped? I think that makes a difference in getting your sample anything to anyone.

Yes. I'm lucky enough to be repped. And yes, your reps can basically paper the town with your material. But it works the same way if you're not repped. Before you can pitch and idea, the network/prodco will want to "read" you. If they like the material, they request a meeting. If they don't, obviously, there is no meeting. Even with an army of agents.

Very true. I just think its harder though to get the opportunity to have someone "read" you or pitch if you're not repped. This is not to say impossible but definitely harder. I think that kind of leads into the quest for email addy's for EPs/assistants...

I totally get it. Frustrating as hell to get that first read.
