Anybody from the Bayou or can recommend books video, etc. on this area?

I've got this book on my bookshelf. I haven't read much of it, so it might not help with territory as much as people.

"Acadian to Cajun : Transformation of a People, 1803-1877" by Carl A. Brasseaux

I've been in the bayou. Don't wear nice clothes. Think insect repellant. And a gun doesn't hurt either. The best way to see it is on the raised highways over the swamp. The drive between Houston and New Orleans is one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in the county.
