meteor created lakes in europe

I believe there is a lake in canada supposedly created by a meteor. anyone know of any lakes in europe that were also create by a meteor. If so, name and where located pls.

There is a very small lake in the Sirente crater (http://www.geolsoc.org.uk/template.cfm?name=Sirente), in Italy, (which may have been formed by a meteoric impact in historical times); and, larger meteoric craters are implicated for Lake Sääksjärvi, and, possibly, Lake Lappajärvi, in Finland.

I looked up your the site and came up with some ideas to seach and found Ries which is not far from where I am.

If the Ries crater interests you, a group of tektites, known as Moldavites, have been associated with this meteoric impact site. These glassy objects come in a wide variety of shape and colors, sometimes have occlusions, and have been fashioned into jewelry.

The Ries crater is located in Nördlingen. I am in Augsburg.

I have read some on the impact diamonds. I am not sure what their worth is or if it is important to my story, but the location of the crater seems to be perfect for my story. Nördlingen is not far from Donauworth where the Donau river runs.

The Donau river plays a major part in my story. I also found another Crater, Steinheim, which is about 40 kilometers southwest of the center of Ries. This may play some minor importance.

My son has a basketball game in Nördlingen coming up. I may just make a short check of the area. I am not sure if I am interested in what is in the crater. I need a land point for my "aliens" who will provide some answers to a legend from Africa. The aliens may provide the answer to where the water come from in the Donau river. The river runs into the black forest which may provide the reasons why wolves become so important to my story.

I was set with frustration because my story was taking place in Austria, but the area, Salzburg lake areas, where I chose was too far from the Donau river. The choice of the moon lake in Austria had seemed logical, but now, it isn't nor do the salt mines.

I needed a logical reason as to why my "protagonist/antagonist was traveling where he did. The Donau was the logical answer because it is the major way of passage through many countries today as was during the 1500s. The Donau river branches and touches many other rivers.

I am at same time learning many things about the word, Don. The prefix "Don" is used to name many rivers across the world, as well as a title and has many implications how life occured mythologically in the beginning.

My legend from Africa carries this mythology as well and permeates the topics of creation in other religions to include the Christian and Moslem faiths which were at war and struggling for power at this time, 1500s.

The Ries, I believe, will work.

I am picking up on caves, and what is in the caves. I something interesting that is call, "moon's milk" which is located in one of the Bavarian Caves. This will most likely be used in my story. Any possibly, I may come back to impact diamonds.

I found out that the Donau water is provided my unexplored caves in the Black Forest. Donauschingen, a town, some 2000 ft above sea level, has a well that had been considered the source of the Donau river's water.

In the Black Forest, Fasching has its roots. The masking of hedious masks started there, I believe. I have, myself, played a small part in fasching. I was a fasching prince. I am included in the annuals in the museum in Donauschingen. This gives me room to introduce shape shifters.

I have been to Donauschingen a few times when I was in the Black Forest. It is a resort/relaxation town today to include a very large modern themo-bath.

As far as the meteoric impact in Ries, this could be important later. I most likely will have to explan a very heavy material that entered the atmosphere whether in meteor form or a rough looking space ship.

I am for the first story dealing with 1500s people who mytholize every element. The explanation of such material may not be important. I am faced with how I will cut or move it. I haven't reached that point yet.

All of this has something to do with the Star, Sirius.

If it works out right, I might be able to milk 3 stories in sequence and a separate story in the pacific. I am working on the first story of the sequence and the pacific story. Money may turn tight for me . . . so I have been working like hell. I am hoping to finish the first drafts of the novels by christmas and polish before spring.

No, they are not screenplays, but I hope they will become screenplays. The ideas started as screenplays, but I am convinced that I cannot break in the film industry in my present circumstances.

There are a lot of stuff that I am learning that I have no prior knowledge about. I was really depressed the other morning. For whatever reason, the sky just opened up and showed me its stars. It is pretty early from what I read to see Sirius. I saw Sirius.

Strange stuff has been happening as well. A couple nights ago, the tennis ball that I used to play with my labrador, Salem was bouncing in the early morning. I set it on my grill outside. I have a picture window outside my bedroom connecting to the terrace where the grill is, but I have these "rolladens" that I could see outside. Just as I was about to pull the "rolladens" up. I heard the tennis ball being placed on the grill. In the day, I tried to see if noise was similar as I bounced the ball and placed the ball back. It was eerie.

I guess that's what happens when one tries to take on alien horror stories.

I am totally obsessed. I have to be. I may have to make money where I don't have money.

My wife heard it too, but she was afraid to mention it. She did not want to think about it.

Also, my neighbor who is Romanian has agreed and wants to sit down with me and discuss Dracula. The journey begins in Romania.

Forget about impact diamonds, (not of much interest, except to geologists and meteor scientists); but, I'd recommend looking more into moldavite. For example, the Holy Grail is connected to this "gemstone of transformation (http:///http://www.fonsus.com/html/moldavite.htm)."

I looked up Don today. I found out it means "world leader or ruler of the world.
