Yes, I heard the same thing. They have a ton of projects in dev.

Nooooo. Brad Cutter bye bye? One of my faves. So then what happens to all those projects? I guess someone comes in and tries to buy Fox Atomic and gets all their properties in the process? --- I wonder what this means for Jennifer's Body

It's on Trackingb.com as well.

Let's hope the guys from 'The Sitter' got their cash.

I hope this rumor is bogus. Real bummer.

How does this kind of thing usually go down? Anybody know?

If this is true, I'm sorry to hear about it...but at the same time, I can't say it comes as a huge shock. FA -- imho -- has never been able to successfully establish itself as the genre label it was supposed to be.

I can honestly only name two Fox Atomic projects off the top of my head: THE HILLS HAVE EYES II, and PORKY'S...which imploded after only a few days of filming a number of years ago. Now that I think about it, was MISS MARCH one of theirs, too?

Hell, I still have trouble figuring out Fox 2000 and why certain Fox films are released under that banner vs. 20th Century Fox.

Fox Atomic has been doomed for some time.

I bet Searchlight is in trouble with Peter Rice leaving.

Fox 2000 makes movies that Liz Gabler likes to make which tend to be commercial, usually but not always girly, and less expensive than X-Men.

This is going to sound a little biased since I have a project there, but even with Rice leaving...I don't think Searchlight is in any danger whatsoever. All they've been doing lately is producing BO winners (even in the stuff they grab on the fly) and the staff they've got there is really, really good at what they do.

Atomic, on the other hand, has kind of been on the ropes for a while, as others have mentioned. If it happens - and you never really know unless it does - I think it'll be because Fox fractured its genre arms too many times. You can't have three smaller divisions that aren't allowed to compete with each other for projects and hope they all survive. It's just not going to work.

That said, there are a lot of talented people working there, so maybe it turns around. You never want to see these smaller entities fold, so I'm going to cross my fingers.

And just a clerical note: I think the film that started filming and then folded was the REVENGE OF THE NERDS remake, not PORKY'S.

Fox Atomic is done.

I have a few friends there. Time to make some calls.

What's really sad is that Leibling is going to crawl back into the mothership instead of hitting the street as she should. I always thought it was a junk division which squandered great positioning through bad taste.

Haven't dealt with her.
No way to comment.

I just think it's a bummer (and you do too probably) that another house is going down. The more it happens the more homoginized the movie product out there is going to get.

I know they were'nt exactly cutting edge with their stuff and made mistakes but they served a purpose to some degree.
