It breaks down the names to some extent, as you'll see. If you look in the right place you'll also find a list of the 10 most popular male and female names by year.

The U.S. Census report breaks down names by region. I don't remember the website address, but I know there is one; I've been there before.

Try www.uscensus.com or www.census.com. Or just try it in your search engine.
