You're looking at a film, it's asking you to suspend disbelief way beyond reality, and you're just not getting it.

Maybe your idea of reality comes from movies, and you need a fix of real physics?

Found this great site, run by physics pro's, that takes a look at movie physics with a cold eye and a slide rule.
You can still make it spectacular, but you'll also make it real. And that's a good thing in screenwriting.

Has some entertaining reviews as well, you'll find out why you never liked A.I. among other things.

For what it's worth, I am often a good person to ask about matters of science. I'm the son of a physicist and my wife works for an astronomy magazine, so I can often find answers fast. Plus, I really enjoy discussing science and stuff.

But there's also this site

An extremely useful resource for just about everything.
