What exactly is this division responsible for? Does it deal strictly with individual officer and detective conduct, or does it extend to support for, say, detectives and officers who are having personal problems? I'd appreciate some info.

Thanks. I had a feeling I was on the wrong track (or, rather, right and wrong). Easily fixed. Appreciate the help.

Get Steven J. Canell's great novel; The Tin Collectors, too. It's a great book that explains all of the details about the LAPD/IA .
