Maybe on the WB lot? If I recall building 144 houses Carousel Productions. I could be wrong.
Congrats as well :)

Thanks all.
It was a long time between meetings (got pushed back after they dug the pitch) so we didn't think they were interested. Quite the opposite.
Now we send them the show bible and pray.:D

It's a strange experience. The agency forwarded me the follow-up e-mail and it was gushing/very re-assuring... definitely not the typical "we love you" and then nothing.
At the same time... having been within an inch of the Disney checkbook in 2008, and seeing how quickly the tide turns... I'm not quitting my day-job anytime soon.

So.... there were many vacations holding up the third meeting.
Long story short. Brutal. I can easily take a one meeting pass. A three-meeting pass after unabashed adulation is much much tougher. This one stings and will sting for another 1-2 weeks.
Can't say much, other than that a development deal requires certain things for the first project a prodco with a first-look deal brings to the studio (because they almost always get made) and we didn't meet all of those requirements.
They want to see all of my future tv work, which I will eventually realize is a great thing. That just doesn't take out the sting right now though:umbrella: :(
Not a pity post...not looking for sympathy.
I appreciate all the support. I know some peeps were curious and I had promised to post the results good or bad.
I will curl up into a ball for a little while and get ready to send out one of my features in September.
Cheers all.

Okay, no sympathy. A sincere congratulations for getting to this exciting point and being that much closer to where you want to be.
Good luck next time. Since luck comes to the prepared mind, with all your recent experience, you should be all set.
And thank you for sharing that update. Not fun to do, I'm sure.

I can't play this game. Having experienced a similar near-miss experience, I know how bad it can sting.
You will be OK, and it will become a positive eventually. We both know that. But it's OK to feel like **** for a while first.
I wish things had gone differently for you, mate. But I also know things will in time. You've got something they wanted - even if they don't know it yet.
So enjoy and indulge. Take a few days to sulk. Then get back to doing what it was that got their attention in the first place.
Nic
Sorry to hear that. But on the positive side it sounds like there were valid reasons for it not going ahead, and that's better than a vague "No thanks" or even just never hearing from someone.
It's three steps forward and one (painful) step back. You're still two steps ahead. Stay positive. Keep going.

Keep your head up. In the end, you've made a roomful of new fans.

You have great ideas... and I think from your past posts, you even made your own pilot right? Plus other work?
Keep writing, keep shooting your own stuff and keep pitching... Especially filming your own content (web series, pilots, animated shorts, funny sketches)
We've had the same type of meetings so many times. "We love you...please be patient..." Then WHAMMO! .... "We love you...but we're going to have to pass..."
Just keep chugging. The sting hurts... but as many famous and successful folks have said in the past... "I've failed many more times than I have succeeded!"
---Zazzzz ;)
Just another hurdle...nothing more, nothing less.
Keep your eye on the prize!
It's coming!
Never give up.
I ran out of positive anecdotes, but I sincerely mean it. Drink yourself into oblivion, then start your engines!
Okay, I had another one up my sleeve. ;)

Any more insight into this little dilemma? What certain things are they looking for? Are these parameters exclusive to TV deals?
By the way, sorry to hear that man. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and drink heavily... I mean, get back at it.

In this particular case...the network requested something specific in a three-cam format. Ours was single cam and skewed a bit older than they wanted.
They asked to see it again next season.
Fully recovered now. Working on my next sit-com while doing yet more rewrites for these guys on two features. If I don't get one of them out by September...I will tantrum.:)

As they say, "There's always next season ... "
Actually, we had a similar experience with this co. We also had a single camera idea that they wanted in a 3 camera format. We were also told we had to come in with an experienced showrunner attached to the project.
Sounds like the door is still open for you so that's a good thing. Good luck!
