Hi -- A few questions.

Could any Californian’s tell me the name of a Californian newspaper. Especially one that has a classifieds section.

And another thing. What would you call a gasoline sharing scheme, whereby someone places a classified ad that they are looking for someone to share gasoline and driving responsibilities on a long trip. Is there any sort of typical colloquial phrase that is used.

Thirdly. If one were driving to Alaska through Canada from the West Coast -- would one pass through Washington State?

You will have to settle on a particular city in order to narrow in on a specific newspaper.

Once you do pick a city or town, you can find a comprehensive list of papers (and links) at Yahoo.

The "gas sharing scheme" could be referred to as a "ride share" and "splitting the gas".

Finally, if your characters are driving from California to Alaska, the geography suggests that they would/should pass through Washington.
