From Sunday's NY Times:

Anyone have any contact info or know what they're looking for in the way of scripts?

"A group of entertainment professionals has established a new motion picture company that will finance and distribute up to 12 low-budget movies a year.

Many studios dedicated to independent movies have been closed (Picturehouse) or exist more in name than in function (Miramax). Production and advertising costs continue to climb, financing is virtually impossible to secure and the recession has severely reduced DVD revenue, once a safety net for specialized film.
DF Indie Studios, a venture to be based in New York and set to be introduced on Monday, will focus on films with budgets of up to $10 million, according to Mary E. Dickinson, chief executive of the venture, and Charlene Fisher, its president."

From their website:

Please Note: DFIS is NOT accepting scripts. Please send all scripts to the appropriate talent agencies. They have relationships with the production companies we will be working with now and in the future. Any scripts sent to us directly will not be read, and will be destroyed if sent in hard copy. We are not in the development business and work exclusively with established production companies with whom we have or will have a relationship.

Also, Nikki at DHD had a lengthy article about this company, and I use the term "company" loosely...and it was not flattering.

"Film financing circles expressed incredulity this story came out of nowhere to everywhere. I received from one bankroller an email that said in part: "What am I missing? Here's a company that hasn't raised its money, has no greenlit films, can't explain its domestic distribution strategy, and gets a feature piece in The New York Times. I honestly don't get it. It reads like a trade article, not a Times article. Who is the publicist? He/She did a great job selling bull****."
