I've been a member here for quite a long time, can't remember how far back it goes, but I've been a moderator since 2005 and then an Administrator. I've seen people come and go and now it's time for me to bow out as a moderator, not a member, so I'll still be around.
Two reasons I'm leaving:
Firstly: I almost left when Deus left, the likes of those that run out pros really get to me. boski almost ran out another pro and now we have another pro who doesn't quite agree with the policies. I've seen Tao leave, CE leave, really, after awhile, as a mod, it can really get to you to see really good people leave, and now it's more than I want to deal with.
Secondly and most importantly, something I've shared with only a few people, I have Grave's Disease. It's hyperthyroidism, an auto-immune disorder that's incurable but treatable. Last year I was in health care for a month, two trips to the hospital, 2008 was a very hard year for me.
My life consist of blood test, trips to Endocrinologist and medications. This disease takes 12-18 months to run its course and I'm not even at the year mark yet (it's the same disease Oprah had).
The hardest part of this disease is that I'm athletic and this condition really takes the punch out of my energy. Last thing I need to go through is more drama issues on these boards, not good for me or my recovery.
It's been a good run to be your moderator, loved helping you guys out, but now it's time for me to chill and be just a normal Joe without responsibilities.
I'm not leaving the boards, I'm just taking off my mod's hat and chillin' with the rest of the folks here.
So thanks, Will, for the job, it's been fun while it lasted. Now I just need to hang out at the beach and do nothing.
